After applying for a mortgage, it’s a guarantee that you may receive unsolicited emails, calls, and texts from other lenders or companies.
These 3rd party companies may gain access to borrower information through public data records associated with any of your credit checks and/or property closings as well as the credit bureaus selling your public information.
In full transparency, it’s an unfortunate reality of the mortgage process, but there are a few steps you can take to help minimize these future nuisances:
- Register your phone number on the ‘Do Not Call’ registry herewww.donotcall.gov – this can help reduce the number of spam calls you may receive.
- Be skeptical of unsolicited offers. Offers for additional mortgage protection insurance, home warranties, and especially those asking for additional fees related to your mortgage or deed are often unnecessary and, at times, fraudulent.
- Confirm with your lender. If you receive any communication claiming to be from your lender or relating to your loan, please don’t hesitate to reach out for confirmation. While these steps may not eliminate all unwanted solicitations, they can help significantly reduce them.
Protecting your personal information is paramount, and we’re always here to help and provide guidance. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your lender or myself.
