Fredericksburg’s Eden Try Winery will transform into a Louisiana-inspired carnival next spring as they announce their first Mardi Gras celebration. Scheduled for Saturday, March 29th, 2025, from 4 PM to 9 PM, this family-friendly outdoor event promises to bring the colorful traditions of New Orleans to Virginia’s wine country.
Located at 6818 River Road, the winery will welcome revelers of all ages for just a $5 entry fee, making this festive celebration accessible to the entire community.
About the Event
The winery’s management has embraced the traditional Mardi Gras spirit with their “laissez les bons temps rouler” theme, which translates to “let the good times roll” in Cajun French.
“We wanted to create a unique spring event that brings together families while introducing them to Mardi Gras traditions and our beautiful vineyard setting,” said an Eden Try spokesperson. The outdoor format ensures plenty of space for carnival activities while showcasing the winery’s grounds as winter gives way to spring in Fredericksburg.
Creativity will be on full display at the DIY mask-making station, where attendees can craft personalized Mardi Gras masks. Materials will be provided for guests to design colorful, feathered, and sequined creations worthy of any New Orleans celebration.
The highlight of the evening will be the wagon parade, where participants are encouraged to decorate wagons, strollers, or even themselves in traditional purple, green, and gold before parading through the grounds in a family-friendly version of the iconic Mardi Gras procession.
Local vendors and crafters will line the carnival grounds, offering handmade items and unique gifts for those looking to take home more than just memories. Between activities, guests can sample Eden Try’s selection of locally-produced wines, with special tasting options available for the adults in attendance.
