House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is clearly fed up with GOP attempts to unseat him over unmet demands from the Freedom Caucus members of his party.

“If you want to file the motion, file the fucking motion,” McCarthy voiced to GOP peers on Thursday. This came post Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) critique and his presented list of demands, alongside a threat to initiate a motion against McCarthy’s leadership.

Gaetz, backed by a few Republicans, expressed disappointment with McCarthy’s perceived delay on the Biden impeachment inquiry. The Speaker had only recently made a declaration on this, but Gaetz argues it’s not sufficient.

Simultaneously, McCarthy is grappling with a looming shutdown, where the GOP gives an impression of unwavering stances, be it on cutting Democratic spending or segregating Ukraine’s funding from an interim bill. Yet, they tend to change course dramatically when crunch time arrives.

“I showed frustration in here because I am frustrated,” McCarthy opened up to the media after the GOP session. “Frustrated with some people in the conference.”

In response to McCarthy’s evident irritation, Gaetz retorted.

“Instead of emotionally cursing, maybe the Speaker should just keep his word from January on balanced budgets, term limits and single-subject spending bills,” he shared with The Hill.

However, some in the GOP feel Gaetz’s continuous challenges are becoming wearisome.

“We don’t try to air our laundry but again, you know, to that point, if somebody wants to file a motion to vacate, then file the f—ing motion to vacate, and that’s it,” opined Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL). “And stop stalling everyone’s efforts, hovering it over them as if it’s a trap they might fall into.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), closely aligned with McCarthy, didn’t shy away from pointing out Gaetz’s roadblock to a defense funding bill. She highlighted his insistence that McCarthy provide comprehensive financial figures for a dozen bills in discussion.

“If we’re going to be able to do our job we need every single member in our conference to show up and face everyone else and then we can work out our differences and fund the government,” she asserted.
