The City of Fredericksburg is accepting public comments through close of business Monday, Nov. 16, 2026, on site plans for proposed Fire Station 3 at 3340 Fall Hill Ave., according to a Community Planning & Building project notice posted for development review.

What the plans show

Project SPMAJ2610-0068 describes construction of one 25,350-square-foot building and one 5,100-square-foot building with related infrastructure on the south side of Fall Hill Avenue at its intersection with Wicklow Drive. The notice says the work would proceed in accordance with Special Use Permit R26-14, approved April 14, 2026. The property is zoned R-2 residential. GPIN 7779-09-1114 is listed on the city notice. The applicant/engineer of record named in the notice is Chris Lett of Pennoni.

Fredericksburg VA Patch, citing the same city notice, reported that the station is planned for city-owned Snowden Park. Patch said the plans indicate the park’s ball courts, playground, and community gardens would remain, with parking provided for recreational uses, and that a front display area for a historic fire engine is included for special events and parades. Patch also reported that city project materials describe the station as intended to reduce emergency response times on Fredericksburg’s growing west side, provide backup for the city’s two existing fire stations, and operate around the clock.

How to comment

The city’s notice invites the public to make inquiries or express views on or before close of business Nov. 16, 2026, by emailing mesherman@fredericksburgva.gov. The city’s Fire Station 3 project page states that construction is anticipated in 2027–2028 and that the location is intended to improve coverage for west-side neighborhoods and high-activity areas near Interstate 95.
