In the heart of every community lies a story of courage and resilience. Today, we’re reaching out on behalf of Tabitha Patton and her valiant 11-year-old son, Anthony, as they bravely navigate the challenging path of health uncertainties.

Approximately a year ago, Anthony received a diagnosis of a Lytic bone lesion located at the base of his skull. Not only has this medical anomaly brought him pain and affected his mobility, but despite an initial surgical intervention, the lesion, regrettably, has shown progression, deteriorating several vertebrae in his neck. Now, a series of complex surgeries await Anthony at the Children’s Hospital Utah – the only institution equipped and willing to address this uniquely positioned and high-risk lesion.
The planned medical strategy includes three distinct surgeries within the first week, followed by a recovery period extending 3-4 weeks at the hospital. These operations aim to block the primary artery to Anthony’s brain, excise the lesion, and reconstruct his neck vertebrae using a specialized device, which will then be fused to the remaining vertebrae.

Upon their return, a six-month recuperation period looms, during which the extent of insurance coverage remains uncertain due to the bespoke nature of the supporting device for Anthony’s head. Alarmingly, it has been clarified that a significant part of the medical expenses won’t be catered for by insurance. Adding to this, the family anticipates costs associated with potential requirements like a wheelchair, in-home nursing, and rehabilitation. Moreover, the 4-6 week medical journey in Utah will incapacitate the family’s primary income source, leaving them financially vulnerable, especially considering they have four other children to care for.

In times like these, community support becomes the bedrock of hope. Friends of the Patton family are rallying together to alleviate the impending financial burden, enabling Tabitha and her family to focus entirely on Anthony’s recovery. While monetary donations will significantly help the cause, amplifying the reach of this fundraiser by sharing it is equally valuable.

Join us in wrapping the Patton family in a blanket of community love and support. Every gesture, be it a contribution or simply sharing this message, is a testament to the strength of collective compassion.
