The Diocese of Virginia welcomes you to its annual convention, which brings together individuals from various churches to worship and fellowship. This year’s convention promises to be better than ever, with open registration for voting and non-voting members. If you’re considering attending, this post provides all the information you need to register and participate.

The convention is an exciting and vital event for those who are members of the church community. Voting members who are canonically resident and lay delegates will play a part in making important decisions that impact the direction of the church. It is wonderful to announce that registration this year is now free and mandatory for those who wish to attend. The convention is also open to non-voting members such as licensed clergy, alternate delegates, and ex-officio members. They won’t have a vote, but their attendance and participation are still critical to the convention’s success.

The convention gathers voting and non-voting members comprising canonically resident clergy, ex-officio members, and lay delegates. The meeting is an occasion to share views and make decisions that will help enhance their church. While voting members are required to participate in decision-making, non-voting members are also welcome to attend. This year’s registration is free for all members, but attendance is required. All participants are called to be responsible and make it to the meeting, as it provides a chance to share and exchange ideas.

One of the best things about this year’s Diocese of Virginia Annual Convention is that a limited number of visitors will be allowed to participate. If you’re considering being a part of this gathering as a visitor, do well to pay the $50 registration fee, which will be processed through Eventbrite. Ballots and voting will be conducted through mobile devices, including laptops, tablets, and phones, which require an internet connection and email access.

The voting process could have been more comfortable, but all delegates should frequently check the Convention page on the diocesan website for recently added materials. For visitors, there will be a live stream for non-voting members and guests. You can follow the day’s proceedings from the comfort of your preferred location.

For any further information about the event, contact Nerissa Crockett at ncrockett@thediocese.net. She’s the organizer behind Tags and is always willing and happy to provide information or answer questions about the event.
