Restaurant Week Begins This Month

Mark your calendars for FXBG Winter Restaurant Week, happening Friday, January 16 through Sunday, January 25. This ten-day culinary celebration gives food lovers the perfect opportunity to sample the diverse dining scene. Participating restaurants showcase their signature dishes at special prices, making it easy to try new spots or revisit old favorites with family and friends.

Historic Celebrations This Weekend

This Sunday, January 11, the community gathers for the Religious Freedom Day Parade & Ceremony. Thomas Jefferson drafted the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom right here in Fredericksburg, and this event honors that legacy. The parade departs from the train station at 1:30 PM, followed by a ceremony at 2:00 PM at the Religious Freedom Monument on Washington Avenue.

Theater and Arts Experiences

Catch Twelfth Night at Historic Kenmore with multiple performances happening January 9 through 11. Shows run at 4:15, 5:00, 5:45, 6:45, and 7:30 PM each evening. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students, and kids five and under get in free. For visual arts enthusiasts, Gari Melchers Home and Studio offers free admission every Sunday in January from 10 AM to 4 PM, allowing visitors to explore American Impressionist art and the historic grounds.

Shopping and Community Markets

The Dorothy Hart Community Center Winter Market happens Saturday, January 11, from 8 AM to 1 PM, featuring local vendors and seasonal products. If you’re planning a wedding, don’t miss The Fredericksburg Greater Virginia Bridal Show on Sunday, January 12, at the Fredericksburg Agricultural Fairgrounds. The SGK Gun and Knife Show takes place January 18 and 19 at the exact location for collectors and enthusiasts.

Get Outside This January

Winter is perfect for exploring nature, and Fredericksburg has you covered. Free bird walks at Old Mill Park are scheduled for January 6 and 20 from 9 to 10 AM (pre-registration required). The January Nature Walk at Downtown Greens Belman Road Campus takes place on January 24 from 11 AM to 12:30 PM, offering a chance to discover local wildlife and winter landscapes.

Family Friendly Activities All Month

Looking for family fun? The Community Health and Wellness Fair at Colonial Forge High School on January 24 from 11 AM to 2 PM is completely free and features the Polar Pals Fun Run starting at noon. End the month with the Father/Daughter Dance on Saturday, January 31, a Valentine’s themed evening of dress up, fun, and special memories for dads, grandpas, uncles, and big brothers with the young ladies in their lives.

Young Professionals Connect

The Next Gen Winter Soirée on Thursday, January 30, at The Publisher venue brings together young professionals for what’s billed as the biggest young professional event of the year in Fredericksburg. It’s a great way to network, celebrate the new year, and connect with peers in the community.
