TRAFFIC ALERT! Four-Week Repair Schedule on I-95 Northbound: Alternate Routes and Delays Expected

The Virginia Transportation Authority has scheduled four weeks of repair work on the I-95's northbound lane, starting this coming Monday.
According to the VTA, there will be a closure of the northbound left lane just beyond exit 118 (Thornburg) near mile marker 119 in Spotsylvania County.
The repair team will be on site every day, focusing on fixing erosion damage by overhauling the shoulder and redoing the asphalt, as detailed by the VTA.
Commuters using I-95 North near Thornburg can anticipate significant delays, particularly during high-traffic times like weekends.
VTA suggests that those traveling north on I-95, who intend to go beyond the Fredericksburg region, might consider taking exit 104 (Carmel Church) and proceed via Route 207 northbound and Route 301 northbound to bypass the affected stretch. Where feasible, digital signage will be employed to alert and advise motorists about this alternative path.
Moreover, the VTA warns of potential additional construction activities on main and adjoining roads close to exits 110 (Ladysmith) and 118 (Thornburg) within the Fredericksburg vicinity.
In relation to other projects, "Route 1's capacity has been cut by half in the Caroline's Ladysmith region due to a bridge refurbishment initiative over South River. Traffic lanes have also been condensed near the Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road) junction with Route 1 owing to an expansion project in Thornburg," the VTA reported.
